Chapter Ten
Caprice and Nico walked through Athens International airport smiling so hard that anyone watching would have suspected nothing more than a young couple visiting Greece for the first time or newlyweds on their honeymoon.
Both ideas gave Caprice the creeps, but she knew better than to not play her role. She was just surprised that their fake passports hadn’t gotten them arrested at JFK, let alone allowed them to enter the country. But if Domani could get into Greece, so could his kids.
Using his alias and a credit card, Nico got a rental car while Caprice waited with their luggage. When he’d driven the rental about twenty miles outside of the airport, Caprice pulled the dark blonde wig she was wearing off her head and tossed in the backseat. She reached into her Dior bag and pulled out a brush.
“Next time we have to be incognito, can we go for another look? I’m not trying to look like your trophy wife.”
Nico burst out laughing. “You picked that wig! We told you to just cut and dye your hair.”
“I like my hair the way it is, thank you very much. How far is Dad’s place?”
“About an hour.
“I hope he has a good chef. I’m starving.”
“You’ve been talking about food for two days! You’re not going to get a chance to eat half of the shit you keep talking about. We’re not on vacation.”
“The hell!” Caprice replied with a roll of her neck. “If you think for one second that I’m not going to take advantage of being in Greece for a few days, you are sadly mistaken.”
“We’ll see,” Nico muttered.
“You’ll see me stuffing my face with real fuckin’ falafel and mousakka,” Caprice laughed. “Just watch.”
Caprice ignored Nico’s attitude. The call from Domani two weeks ago had them both on edge, but that didn’t mean they had to stop having fun.
No one was expecting Domani’s request. Despite the new CIA phones, Domani insisted that he needed to speak to his children in person. He gave no explanation as to why he needed to see them; just instructions to see Gina and that’s what they did.
Out of her safe came their airline tickets and fake IDs. Now, a year and a half after he left, Nico and Caprice were just an hour away from their father. Both of them were a little nervous. There was so much that Domani had missed.
The Capri was half way finished and money from investors was pouring in just as fast as Caprice was putting it back into the casino. The original investors Domani had assembled were still around, but their money was chump change compared to the investors Caprice had lined up. She hired the best PR firms on both coasts and top real estate agents to lease out the new spaces she’d added to the original design.
In fact, she’d made so many changes, Domani barely recognized his casino when he saw the new design. Caprice hoped that wasn’t the reason for the secret meeting. It wasn’t like they could change it back now.
